ASL FunctionENTRY CONTROL INTO THE CIVIL AVIATION SYSTEM
ICAO All ICAO member states are required ensure that participants in the civil aviation system meet specified standards, in order to protect other participants and the travelling public. For flight crew and aircraft maintenance personnel, this is achieved through personnel licensing systems. CAA The CAA has defined certain criteria that entrants to the New Zealand civil aviation system must meet. These criteria are the minimum necessary for flight crew members and aircraft maintenance personnel to safely and responsibly exercise the privileges of the licence or rating they hold. The CAA entry controls include:
ASL ASL’s prime function is to implement those parts of the entry control process relating to assessments of knowledge and skill of flight crew members and aircraft maintenance personnel on behalf of CAA. This is provided under a delegation from the Director of Civil Aviation to the General Manager of ASL (the “Delegatee”)
ASL also assesses the experience of flight
crew members and aircraft maintenance personnel (including overseas
licence holders and Armed Forces personnel) to ensure they meet the
minimum criteria specified by CAA. |
